First Duck game

Gavin went to his first UO Duck game in September. He did great, actually he just slept through the first half! Which is pretty amazing if you have ever experienced how loud Autzen Stadium is! I think his favorite part of the day was playing with his cousin Toryn.

Happy 9mth Birthday!!!

Hooray! Gavin is 9 months old today! It's hard to believe that he's that old already! We were at Babies R Us today and walked past the "preemie" clothing section, it's hard to imagine that Gavin had to wear preemie clothes! They were so so small! He has his 9mth baby check up on Friday with Dr. Josh...the world's greatest doctor!

We're Back!

Holy cow! It's been almost 2 months since I've updated this! It's been a crazy busy summer! Gavin is GREAT! He is almost 9mths old! Here are a few things we done this summer...

We moved into a new home. It's 3 bedrooms with a big living room, a huge backyard and a garage for all of Sean's work tools. It's great to have so much space!

Once we moved in Gavin started doing a lot of new and exciting things. the first day in our new house, I walked into his room after his nap and he was sitting up in his crib waiting for me! I was so surprised! He had been trying so hard for weeks to sit up on his own!

About a week after moving in, our little guy started crawling. He started out wobbly but now I have to run after him! He is pulling himself up to stand on anything he can and not so graceful in sitting down from standing position but he's figuring it out.

We took Gavin on his first trip to the beach and to his first Duck football tailgate party! He did so well at the beach and did not try to eat the sand which I thought he would since he tries to eat everything he gets his hands on!



I am working 32 hours now and we have started up our nannyshare with his friend Ryder. They are so great together!

7 months!!!

July 16, 2007...Gavin turned 7 months!!! Time is just zipping by! He is doing great! We are more and more amazed everyday at all the great things he is doing. After 6 1/2 long months of breastfeeding, we decided it was in our best interest to wean him. He did really great and loves his formula! It's only been 2 weeks since we've weaned him and he's gained 3/4 of a lb!!! So, on his 7month b-day, Gavin weighed in at 12lbs, 12.5 oz, and 25.5 inches long. still a little guy...

Gavin's newest trick is getting in his crawling position. He gets up on all fours, starts to sway back and forth, he will pick up one arm like he's going to start moving and then....CRASH! face down on the floor. He's getting really close though! Lately he has been rolling and rotating himself around on his belly. He has rolled under the coffee table and under the chair...where he got his head stuck.

San Francisco

We went on our first family vacation in june! We went down to San Francisco to visit family and attend a friend's wedding. Gavin had a great time playing with his cousins, Caroline (2 years old) and Brandon (4 months old). He also did really well on the airplane! He slept during take off and would wake up about half way there. He made many new friends on the flight! We had a great time seeing family and friends. We spent one day down on Fisherman's Wharf and Gavin loved all the people!

It's definitely harder to travel with a little one, but now that we've done it once, we know what to expect.

Last weekend, I had Gavin propped up on my bed while I folded some laundry. It was hard to entertain him fold clothes at the same time so i turned on Winnie the Pooh...well, Gavin just sat there with his toy duck in his mouth staring at the TV (i know it's HORRIBLE!) making his little noises, kickin' his legs. I kept folding away. I had turned my back to put away some clothes in the closet and when i turned around this is what I saw:

Gavin made some new friends last weekend! Our very good friend Chuck and his partner Suzi have two little ones, 2 year old Noah and 4 month old Amelia. We went to visit them in Albany. It was the first time we met Amelia. She is adorable!

Noah apparently loves little babies and he loved all over Gavin! So much that he kinda pushed Gavin over, so that Gavin landed face down on the floor. I don't think Noah is quite aware how powerful his lovey-ness is because Gavin cried and cried after falling over. He got his first little baby bump on his cheek too!

Sean and I are having so much fun with Gavin these days! He is the best and most wonderful thing to ever happen to us. He's just so amazing, full of personality, laughter, smiles, giggles and wiggles! He likes to pull on Sean's goatee and recently I've been teaching him how to hug. So I put him in my arms, put his arms around my neck and say "Squeeezzzze" as I squeeze him tight. He loves it and starts laughing!
Today we were driving home from the store and R Kelly's "Ignition" came on the radio (you know the song...give me a hoot hoot, give me a beep beep...) well, Gavin thought it was the funniest song ever because he laughed and laughed as we sang along.
He loves to be tickled and held up in the air. He can melt your heart with his smile. The best part of my day is coming home from work and seeing his whole face light up with a huge grin when i walk through the front door. He's pretty adorable when he wakes up too...usually, he'll wake up and "talk" to himself in his crib. Then when we go in (he loves it when it's both of us!) he stops, looks up at us and then gives us a huge smile.
He's starting to sit up on his own...just a few minutes at a time before he starts falling over. It's pretty funny when he slowly starts to fall over, he doesn't seem to mind it and sometimes if you laugh, he'll giggle as he falls over.

I could go on and on about how great he is...

GO DUCKS!

Sean and Gavin did a mini-photo shoot in their Go Ducks gear! Sean was very excited when he realized that Gavin finally fit into his first Go Ducks outfit. He's got many more Duck outfits to fit into! Sean sure does look proud of his little duck!

Yummy Yummy Yummy!

Gavin has started eating solid foods and he LOVES them! So far he's had rice cereal, peas and sweet potatoes. It's pretty exciting for us to see him love eating so much since he hasn't been the best eater.

It's been awhile...

It's been very busy at the Folston house! I've been really busy with work and when I'm not at work I am with Gavin and having fun! Gavin turned 5 months on May 16th.

Gavin is doing amazing things all the time. He smiles at you when you just look at him! He's quite popular when we go out and about. Our doctor even said he was socially advanced! He's making friends all over! We live right down the street from a New Season's market and they love him there...it's fun to be regulars and have people recognize your baby and be excited to see him.

We have started a new sleep routine, it's kinda hard to hear him cry and for those of you who have children and ever did a cry it out session you know how awful it can be...but he's getting a hang of it and Sean and I are getting better at dealing with it too. If we stick to the sleep schedule and get him to fall asleep on his own and stay asleep or at least if he can figure out how to fall back asleep on his own, i might actually get a full nights sleep! That hasn't happened in over 5 months!

Happy Baby!

Gavin is doing great! He's 4 and 1/2 months and is weighing in at 11lbs now! He's still a little guy but bundles of FUN! He has learned to blow rasberries and stick his tongue out. It's really funny! He rolled over for the first time back in early April and then stopped but has started up again...he rolls from his back to tummy and then back to his back and somehow he manages to scoot all over the floor. He's talking and laughing a lot too! Sean and I are having so much fun with him!

He loves being outside! Whenever he gets fussy we take him for a walk and he calms down. We are looking forward to taking him camping this summer.

Happy 4 Month Birthday!

Gavin is 4 months old today! He is at a great age right now, he's so interactive and alert. He enjoys playing on his mat with all his toys around him. He laughs and giggles and talks all the time. He doesn't love the car so much so it's always a hit or miss on how he will do when we go out. He is sleeping pretty well at night...but not so much during the day. I think because he just wants to play and have fun!

Gavin's friends: Alyx and Ryder

I started work in the beginning of April and we have our friend Alyx watching Gavin during the day. She watches him and another little baby boy, Ryder. Ryder is 3 weeks younger than Gavin but looks like he is 3 months older! They are quite the duo! Alyx is amazing with Gavin and we feel so lucky to have found someone so caring, kind and patient to take care of him while Sean and I are working. It's been a really great transition for all of us.

Laughing Baby

Our little guy has started to laugh and it is the cutest thing ever!!! (although I think I say that about every new thing he does.) Here he is, cracking up to Sean's silliness!

Our 1st Sunny Spring Day!

This weekend we were able to enjoy a very typical Spring day in Oregon. It was sunny and 78 degrees! It was so nice! It was the first time we took Gavin out in the sun and actually worried about how warm it was and if he needed sunscreen! No sunscreen but a new bucket hat worked really well. Not to mention he looked so stinkin' cute!

Eat the Monkey!!!

Gavin loves to sit in his Rainforest bouncer and watch the waterfall and listen to the music play. A couple weeks ago, he realized that he could reach the money that hangs below. He reaches for it, grabs the monkey with both hands and tries to bring it to his mouth, except the monkey is attached and he can't quite get it to his mouth so he leans forward. He's got about an inch to go. After about 5-10 minutes of working really hard to eat the monkey, the
gets really mad!

Gavin's rolling

March 31, 2007---Gavin rolled over for the first time! He had been trying really hard for weeks rolling from his back to his side and not quite making it over to his belly. After many failed attempts, he made his first roll, then his second, third and now he just does it...of course only when he wants to...never when we coax him! I was able to get one of his rolls on video...he does these little grunts and sticks his little butt in the air...it's adorable!

Gavin's First Easter

Gavin spent his 1st Easter at his Uncle Geremy and Aunt Stacy's house in Jefferson, OR. It was also his first mini-road trip down I-5. He fell asleep once we got onto I-5 and woke up right as we got off the exit to Jefferson...somehow he knew we were off the highway.

I was looking forward to having someone other than myself carry him around all day but Gavin had other plans. He cried anytime someone other than me or Sean held him. He didn't even want to be held by Grandma! I think he was a little thrown off by the new surroundings and all the noise. When the Folston's get together, it isn't the quietest of gatherings.

Our little guy...

Gavin has been keeping us very busy! He is 3 months and 1 day old today. He's a little guy, only weighing in at 9lbs 9 oz at his last weigh in...which was only on Friday. For those of you who haven't heard, he has been struggling with his weight. Our doctor, Dr. Josh, thinks that he is just going to always be a little guy...until he's a teenager and we will be trying to figure out a diet plan so he can lose weight! We have been seeing other doctors and specialists to help us find ways of putting some weight on him, it's been a frustrating process but it's amazing what you will do for your child. He is as healthy as can be, and as happy as can be you can't ask for much else!

About 3 weeks ago, he started smiling at us...and let me tell you it just melts my heart every time! On Sunday we were coming home from Pietro's and he laughed at me in the car! It was sooo cute! Of course, he did it like twice in the car and hasn't laughed since. Apparently I was really funny but not anymore!

His favorite place to be is his changing table. This is where he started smiling...at his mobile. Then he started smiling at his STAR...those of you who may know of the star...the blinking, singing star that comes with the Baby Einstein play mat. Then he just started smiling at everything and everyone. It's awesome.

He has discovered his hands, which he likes to put in his mouth...both of them at the same time. He hasn't really been grabbing for things but if you put something in his hand, he will look at it with a very serious look...sometimes he'll smile at it. He has also started "talking" and his favorite person to talk to...his daddy. Sean and Gavin will sit and talk forever...sometimes they talk about the DUCKS...sometimes they just babble. For only being 3 months old, he sure has a lot to say!!!
